Diane Bass

Diane was born and raised in this area. She attended Seaway District High School where she was valedictorian for her graduating class. Then it was off to Algonquin College where she took a Legal Assistant course. Diane first worked for our office as a summer student while in college. Her first job within her field of study was with a title searching firm in Ottawa. Then in 1987 her career took a different path when she started working for the Royal Bank in Iroquois, where she worked for the next 13 years. Diane joined our office again in 2001. She currently does all the real estate title searching and related duties for our office.
Outside of the office, Diane has been an active volunteer in the community over the years. She has sat on a number of boards, volunteered at our local school and has been involved with a number of fund-raising efforts for various local organizations and causes.
Sherry Boulerice

Sherry first joined our office while on a work placement program for Grade 12 students through Seaway District High School. She returned to work as a summer student after graduation and did a second work placement through St. Lawrence College, Cornwall. Sherry graduated in 1984 with a diploma in Secretarial Arts-Legal and completed that two year program in one year.
With over 35 years of experience, Sherry has developed expertise in all facets of real estate law including residential, commercial and agricultural properties. Sherry also assists with the firm’s municipal law and litigation files. With her local knowledge and commitment to client service, Sherry is an invaluable member of our staff.
Sherry was born, raised, and continues to reside in Morrisburg.
Mary Murphy

Mary started with us in March 2016 as our new bookkeeper. She has brought with her many years of experience in both bookkeeping and Human Resource management.
Mary was born and raised in Montreal but has lived in the S.D. & G area for the past 25 years.
Jim Whelan

Jim started as a temporary employee in October 2016 and has been with us since. He graduated from St. Lawrence College in 1984 with a Financial Accounting diploma. Besides working here he has his own insurance business which he continues to develop. Jim is married and resides in Cornwall.
Robin Winters

Robin works with Eric Pietersma, primarily on Real Estate matters.
Robin has worked with Horner & Pietersma (and previous incarnations of the firm) since 1989. She greatly enjoys working with clients, and is a dedicated contributor to all of the matters on which she works.
Robin resides near Ingleside, Ontario with her family.
Kelly VanBeilen

After graduating from College with both a Certificate in Ambulance and Emergency Care and Law Clerk Diploma, Kelly began working in Ottawa focusing on Litigation and Family Law.
Kelly worked in Brockville, Ontario for four years primarily in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Planning and Estates. Kelly now resides in Morrisburg and has worked as a Legal Assistant in Morrisburg since 2004.
She currently assists Eldon Horner, Eric Pietersma and Kristen MacDonald in the areas of Family Law, Municipal Law and Litigation.
Amy Myers

Amy is one of the newest additions to our firm. After graduating from Carelton University with a B.A. in Sociology, she decided to pursue a career in Addictions Counseling. This path led her to complete a degree in Addictions Treatment and Prevention from Georgian College. After spending several years in the field, Amy decided to finally pursue her passion for legal work.
Amy graduated from the Law Clerk (Intensive) Program at Algonquin College in 2013 and has been working in the area ever since. Amy has brought her knowledge of Real Estate Law to our firm where she continues to expand her knowledge in the field of Corporate Law as well.
Amy enjoys working with clients and is eager to assist. She was born, raised and continues to reside in the Morrisburg area.
Tracey VanBruinessen

Tracey graduated from the Legal Assistant course at Sir Sandford Fleming College in 1995.
She worked in Chesterville/Morrisburg and Ottawa as a Legal Assistant from1995 until 2002 primarily in the areas of real estate, title searching, estates and estate planning with some focus on corporate work.
In 2002, Tracey took a part time position with The Bank of Nova Scotia to allow her to spend more time with her young family.
Tracey returned to her Legal Assistant position in real estate in
Chesterville/Morrisburg from 2010 until 2021 when she joined our real estate team.
Tracey was born, raised and continues to reside in Winchester with her family.
Morgan Barkley

Morgan was born and raised in Winchester. She started her legal career right away upon graduating on the Dean’s List from the Legal and Executive program at Algonquin College in 2016. She’s worked as an executive assistant, litigation law clerk and real estate law clerk, with real estate being the most rewarding to her.
Morgan assists Eldon Horner, Eric Pietersma and Kristen MacDonald with Real Estate matters.
Outside of work, you can find Morgan at the cottage with her friends and family and her pet bunny, Hugo.
Alyssa Wopat

The newest addition to the team. Alyssa handles all matters related to Wills, Power of Attorneys and Estates.
Alyssa graduated from a 2-year Law Clerk program at Algonquin College in 2021.
Alyssa was born and raised in Winchester Springs, and she continues to reside there. She loves the small-town atmosphere and enjoys being close to her family.
Outside of work, you can find Alyssa outside, enjoying what nature has to offer.
Security Team
Lily and Rose are the latest addition to our staff. They have quickly become the most popular personalities at Horner & Pietersma.
These two sisters were formerly at the SPCA in Brockville and now reside in the office on a full time basis and in addition to security they provide some stress relief to both clients and staff. You may see them if you attend the office and depending on their mood they may decide to greet you in person.
